About Us:
Bristol Defend the Asylum Seekers Campaign (BDASC) is a broadly based organisation that publicly campaigns for a just, humane and effective asylum system by:
raising public awareness and opposition to the current policies and treatment of those seeking refuge here
setting the record straight with the facts and countering the misleading and inaccurate representation of asylum seekers that some politicians and sections of the media present to the public
providing financial and practical help and moral support to individuals seeking asylum
coordinating and cooperating with other refugee, community and campaign groups to improve the lives and rights of those seeking sanctuary
ending the Hostile Environment
We are a non-profit grassroots campaign group based in Bristol. We are made up entirely of volunteers, who are concerned individuals and organisations (including trade unions and religious groups, asylum seekers and politicians). We have been going since April 2000 and we aim to raise the profile of asylum seekers and the difficulties they face in the UK by working with other refugee groups in the city to give practical and moral support to asylum seekers. Please see our Facebook and Twitter for more information: @bdascasylum.
